Purdue Alaina Harper Announces Unfortunate News
It’s such a bittersweet moment. Alaina, the rising senior and forward for the Boilermakers, has officially decided to step away from basketball. She shared her heartfelt decision on Instagram, and honestly, it really tugged at my heartstrings.
She battled through injury all season long and only got to play in three games during 2024-25. That’s tough, right? Injuries can be such a wrench in the works, especially when you’re passionate about the sport. I can only imagine how frustrating that must have been for her.
She had moved to Purdue after starting her career at Grand Canyon, and it was such a great journey for her, especially getting to play alongside her sister, Caitlyn. How cool is that? Siblings sharing the court together, living out their basketball dreams? 💔 It must have been a really special experience for both of them during that 2023-24 season, where Alaina showed her determination by averaging 1.4 points and 1.3 rebounds over those 28 games, making six starts.
But, at the end of the day, it sounds like Alaina has made a thoughtful decision for her future. It’s not easy to walk away from something so significant, but maybe she felt it was time to focus on other passions or her life beyond the basketball court. You can tell she loved every moment she spent working hard and competing, and it’s a real testament to her character.
I guess we’ll just have to see what she does next! Whatever it is, I hope it brings her as much joy as basketball did.
