Beavers Announces New NIL Partnership
You know how that old saying goes, “Keeping up with the Joneses”? It’s all about staying competitive, right? Well, that’s become the new normal for college athletes. They’re not just hitting the books and practicing their sports anymore; they’re also diving into the wild world of business, thanks to a little thing called Name, Image, and Likeness, or NIL for short.
This week, Oregon State University dropped some exciting news. They announced a partnership with Teamworks, an app developer that’s pretty well-known in the NIL space. They’re relaunching something called The Woodshop, which is an app specifically designed to help Oregon State’s student-athletes manage their NIL deals. Yep, you heard that right—these athletes can now monetize their personal brands like never before.
Now, think about it. Just a few years ago, student-athletes were basically limited to their scholarships and maybe a little side hustle. But now? It’s a whole new game.
According to Sean Kelly, who’s the Senior Account Executive for Teamworks Influencer,
“This platform is designed to simplify the NIL process, allowing Beaver student-athletes to seamlessly connect with businesses and fans, monetize their personal brands, and maximize their earning potential.”
How cool is that?
Scott Barnes, the athletic director at Oregon State, chimed in too: “We’re thrilled to partner with them. This will enhance NIL opportunities for businesses and our student-athletes and further their education in personal branding.” I mean, who wouldn’t want to take a crash course in building a brand while being a college athlete?
And just to give you a sense of this movement, over 200 college athletic departments are currently using Teamworks’ platforms. So, it’s not just a one-off deal; this is becoming a major shift in college sports. If you’re a student-athlete at Oregon State, you’re not just a player; you’re a brand, a marketplace. And that’s pretty powerful, right?
In a nutshell, the college athletic world is changing fast, and The Woodshop is just one of the many tools helping athletes keep pace. It’s like having a secret weapon in your back pocket. So next time you hear about some college athlete making a big deal, just remember—they’re not just keeping up; they’re setting the pace.
