Kalen DeBoer Hints at Jalen Milroe’s Alabama Future by Clearing Stance Ahead of Fixture
Oh wow, the whole situation with Jalen Milroe and Kalen DeBoer is just wild, right? I mean, hearing someone say, “I don’t think he is NFL-ready,” coming from a Bama veteran is kind of shocking. It really makes you stop and think about how things have gone this season. Milroe was supposed to be the guy, and now it feels like he’s at a crossroads.
Honestly, DeBoer seems like a solid QB coach. Just look at what he did with Michael Penix Jr. at Washington—11 wins and a Heisman finalist? That’s impressive! So you really have to wonder, what happened with Milroe? It’s like, “I’m able to grow each and every day with him,” sounds great in theory, but where was that growth when they tripped up against unranked Vandy? Or when they were held to just 3 points against a 5-loss Oklahoma team? Yikes! This isn’t the Bama offense we’ve come to expect, that’s for sure.
Now, with the upcoming ReliaQuest Bowl and the NFL draft, it seems like there’s a lot to consider. If given a second chance, would you just start fresh? DeBoer’s comments about helping the players figure things out make sense, but I can’t help but wonder if they’re really ready to take that next step. It’s all about choices now, and the players need to figure out what’s best for them. And honestly, I agree, we don’t need another “Cam Ward stunt.” It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out, especially against Michigan. What do you think it’s going to take for them to turn things around?
The way Milroe puts it, he’s “going the distance” against Michigan? It kind of makes you feel like he’s sticking around for another shot. When he says, “It’s all about maximizing right now,” you can tell he’s really focused on making the most of this opportunity. Looking ahead, it does make sense that he might want to stay another year with the Tide.
Honestly, I think another season could be a huge blessing for Milroe. Think about it: those three big “sins” against Vandy, OU, and the Vols really exposed his game. It’s like once any defense figured out how to stop him from running, he just fell apart. He became pretty one-dimensional. You remember those three interceptions against a pretty average Sooners team? And let’s not even get started on missing 20 passes against the Vols or how Vandy managed to walk all over him. It all kinda points to the same problem.
Now, I feel like DeBoer really needs to consider getting a better OC because, let’s face it, Nick Sheridan is just not cutting it. Milroe shines in the rushing game, but when it comes to throwing those pocket passes, he’s really struggling. This is definitely something he’s got to fix before he even thinks about the NFL. I remember Mel Kiper Jr. saying, “I think play as much college football as you possibly can,” and that really stuck with me.
So, if Milroe does decide to stay back, DeBoer will get that second chance to build a “natty team” with him. But before any of that happens, they’ve really got to focus on getting those wins against the bluebloods. What do you think? Do you think Milroe has it in him to bounce back?
