Will Seth Trimble Return vs SMU?
The UNC basketball team is really in a nail-biter of a season, Seth Trimble, this standout player for the Tar Heels, has been sitting out due to an upper-body injury. It’s his third game in a row, and you can just feel the tension in the air. His presence on the court is missed like crazy, especially during that much-needed win at Notre Dame the other night. You’re probably thinking, “How do we fill that gap?”
Michael Koh, who writes for WCHL & Chapelboro, recently shared an update from Head Coach Hubert Davis that’s got fans excited with a bit of hope. Coach Davis mentioned that Trimble might be lacing up those iconic Jordans and getting back in the game soon. Basically, he got in a practice and took part in a full-contact drill, which is a fantastic sign. I mean, who doesn’t love hearing that? Of course, nobody dropped an exact timeline for his return, but fingers crossed we’ll hear some good news after today’s practice.

Now, the stakes are high! Tomorrow, the Tar Heels are facing off against SMU, an ACC newcomer that’s been on a roll with an impressive 11-3 start. They’re coming into this game with some momentum—2-1 in ACC play, so it’s safe to say that this is a must-win for the Tar Heels, especially since they sit at 9-6. It’s time to beef up that resume for March Madness.
You know, Trimble has been such a revelation this season. He’s averaging 14.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game, which is a massive jump from last season when he was only scoring about 5 points. His shooting and efficiency have drastically improved, not to mention that lockdown defense he brings. Seriously, he’s become irreplaceable for UNC.
And let’s not forget Elliot Cadeau’s clutch performance against Notre Dame—scoring that unbelievable and-1 three-pointer. That was a heart-stopping moment! But the reality is, the Tar Heels are still in a tough spot with a crucial seven-game ACC stretch coming up before they face off against Duke on February 1. They need Trimble back out there, bringing his A-game like the breakout star he is.
